Day 5 - Getting to Menaggio - Lake Como

This was such a wonderful days' ride to Lake Como. Leaving Signau and rising up to Entlebuch, still in Switzerland. The views were fantastic, so stopped at the top and took the opportunity to photo the ride ahead.
Then on the way to Italy, came across this delightful cafe that served the best tea of the tour so far! It was in Undigenswil, Switzerland and the cafe was called "Peperoncini" Had a chat with the owner, who had opened the cafe 20 years one; that was a shock as it looked brand new! Again the views were tremendous. We could see the snow capped mountains that we are going to attempt to go across.
We understand the Gotthard Pass is open, so we're going to attempt to ride it...however prior to getting there we stopped by the side of the lake in Brunnen.
Here it is, The Gotthard Pass. We did have to ride 3 miles down the hard shoulder to the exit as there was an amazingly long queue!! However, we didn't get stopped so onwards and upwards.
We parked up here for a little while as there were some slow coaches in front of us and that would have spoiled our ride through the Pass. We were all very excited though, as it was our 1st proper pass of the tour.
Definitely snow covered and very cold, but wow just brilliant views. Steady riding was called for.
There was a big wedding going on at this strange little roadside cafe, but the beer was good and very welcome, so a little stop before getting the Airbnb in Lake Como.
The views from our balcony for the next couple of nights!!! It was a bit tricky to find initially, but once located, it was the perfect spot to stay over - slightly out of the main town so very quiet and elevated to get a great view of the lake below.
