Day 17 - Getting to Hamburg

First things first - we had to clean the bikes, as sap had dropped from the trees the night before and the bikes were all sticky!! Wish we learned to use the machine properly, but at least we got the sap off.
This was, without doubt, the most boring ride, not only of the tour, but of all time!! It was the straight roads for mile, after mile, after mile, after mile, after mile! PC and Mrs C were very exciting when a slight kink in the road, classed as bend, appeared! We just wanted it to end and end quickly!!

We did dodge the rain mainly, there were very black clouds all around us in the distance, but we avoided them luckily.

Did find a lovely place to stop for lunch though. It was right in the middle of nowhere and when we walked in the whole restaurant went silence. Anyway, it turned out very nice indeed, with a great Schnitzel, chips and eggs.....
Found the hotel in Hamburg. It was now pouring down on us. This was a very strange hotel, with an underground garage that Toby nearly ran the curb on! Two parts to the hotel and we were in the shit part I think. Anyway it served for what we wanted.
This was the night that we heard the devastating news that George was no longer with us. Uncle Stan was comforting young Frank! We didn't feel like taking any more photos tonight, we were all very upset and were thinking about Gary & Helena and their (our) beloved George. It was very apt, right at the moment H sent the message, we were drinking Peronis' - This was our tipple in The Golden Groves when we 1st met H&G 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
RIP George ❤️
