Day 12 - Getting to Zell am Zee

We were originally going to thrash it to Zell am See after a very long day out yesterday, but thought better of it and decided that we would ride to Lienz and up the Großglockner - we have ridden this before, but it's always spectacular and didn't particularly add too much time to the ride.

The ride up was though some amazing mountains; riding along the valley floor looking up. Sweeping, and very fast, we were zooming along and then oh NOOOOOOO - big RED light on the PC's dashboard, indicating tyre pressure has just dropped dramatically. This normally denotes a puncture, so quickly pulled over. We were in the middle of nowhere, so this was going to add so much time to the day.

As soon as we pulled over, the indicator went back to normal so thankfully the TFP just had a brain fart or something!!! Onwards we went and found a wonderful roadside cafe; The tea was excellent!
Headed toward the base of the Großglockner and stopped for a quick beer and a rather special ice-cream. Frezzing cold with warm raspberries melting over the top. Yum, Yum!!!!!!!
Yet again, amazing view from the top of a very cold and wild Alpine Pass. The price has certainly escalated and is now up to €35. However, the investment put into the roads have been unbelievable. Widening, flattening the surface, barriers so you can't fall off the edges 😂. Well worth adding more time to the ride, just experiencing the pass again was brilliant.
We arrived at Zell am See and are treating ourselves to the a very posh hotel - The Tirolerhof! this is going to be an expensive stopover, but for sure will be memorable! The hotel is beautiful the staff are fantastic, the beer is exceptional and the food (we decided to push the boat out and eat here as well) was out of this world! Four courses of gorgeousness coming our way!
Stanley all settled still with Helena, and living the dream with his brothers!
That was a really great stopover - memorable for the food more than anything else; beer by the lake was also very nice, A few were definitely drunk over the course of the night, so it was early to bed and ready for the ride through Bavaria in the morning.
